The award ceremony for the 14th annual Modern Decoration International Media Award was held at the Hilton Shenzhen Shekou Nanhai on Dec.5th in China. The Church Conversion  was awarded 1st place for the Annual Residential Space Award.  I am humbled and honored and feel extremely grateful to have been so welcomed in Shenzhen for the ceremony!  Pinch me please.

file_000Irene and I enjoyed a bit of travel to Hong Kong after the award ceremony.  I look forward to sharing inspiration from my travels in my design projects and artwork.

TRADITIONAL HOME’S 5TH ANNUAL NAPA VALLEY SHOWHOUSE is from December 5th through January 8th.  You still have some time to swing by if you are in the bay area.  The home combines lush gardens, distinctive architecture, and world-class culinary experiences. Chicago interior designer, Kim Scodro was invited to create the great room and requested a colorful piece of art for above the fireplace.  Kim’s room is pictured below.  Her work is stunning and it was such a pleasure working with her and her talented team.

Stitch is back for the 12th anniversary, and this year the theme is Sweet Home Chicago! Models will strut the runway on March 2, 2017 at the House of Blues Chicago. This year teams will be creating garments!  I’m honored to have been selected as a judge for this year. Hope to see you there!

As the winner for 2016 Designer of the Year I was invited to New York City to present the 2017 Designer of the Year on Thursday March 23rd. Who will it be? Stay tuned…

Honored to have been asked by Flor to provide the backdrop for their new catalog.  Pictured below are their cool new carpet tile designs in our Church Conversion.

Our project in Oakbrook is a complete gut rehab, scope of work including architectural drawings, design and construction management. This project is a real transformation from an old and outdated home to a sleek modern interior.  Stay tuned for more progress photos next time- you won’t believe it’s the same home.  Pictured below are images showing the fireplace removal and where the new kitchen will be located.

In addition we celebrated a win for the Church Conversion with Scrafano Architects at Architectural Artifacts for AIA’s Small Projects Awards.  My work has been officially installed at the Prudential Building so please stop by the lobby if you are in the loop.  We’ve had dozens of press placements in the last few months with three covers.  We’ve included some of our favorites including Chicago Magazine’s feature on our Michigan Farmhouse.  Below is a photo of new work in our new office and studio.  Please note we have moved.  Thank you all for your continued support and hope to see you soon!  -Linc

Artemide Installation:

Founded in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi, the Artemide Group is an Italian design icon and an international leader in the field of lighting. Aside from being responsible for producing some of the world’s most notable lights, the Tizio designed by Richard Sapper and the Tolomeo by Michele De Lucchi, Artemide is recognized as a design innovator who continually works with globally renowned architects and designers including; Sir Norman Foster; Ettore Sottsass; Enzo Mari; Karim Rashid and Mario Botta. Artemide lamps are featured in permanent museum collections including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The pieces I created for Artemide are part of their permanent collection. The works draw inspiration from architecture, design and art.  They are a representation of lighting and design manifesting the painting process with a minimal approach.  The paintings are stretched with raw canvas not primed, graphite pencil, with white, black and red paint.

Fall Post Event Wrap and Save the Date for my West Elm Workshop

It’s been an amazing fall between Chairs for Charity, the debut of my new show, ENCIRCLE at Buckingham I+D and Design Harvest.  Thanks to all of you who came out to share your passion for art and design.  Below are some snaps and press from our recent events.

SAVE THE DATE, Tuesday, November 12th for my WEST ELM WORKSHOP

I have been invited to display my work at West Elm from Thursday November 7th thru Tuesday November 12th.  I will be hosting a painting workshop at West Elm on November 12th from 6-9pm.  We will be discussing painting techniques and working together on a large canvas which will be auctioned at the Teen Living Program Gala in March. Please RSVP to if you would like to attend the upcoming workshop.

About the Teen Living Program, Directly Impacting the Lives of the TLP Youth

As Teen Living Programs’ single largest fundraising event, the TLP Spring Gala has a goal to raise nearly half a million dollars to support highly effective programming that helps young people heal from the traumas of homelessness and build the skills they need to achieve self-sufficiency and independence. Your support will fund: GED and vocation training classes; healthy meals and instruction on how to prepare them; field trips to museums, parks and sporting events; comprehensive health care; individualized case management; a safe and secure place to call home; and for many, for the first time in their life, a room and a bed of their very own.  For more information, please visit

Thanks again for all your support and passion for Art and Chicago Interior Design.  Hope to see you soon- Linc Thelen
