Title: “Grid Study #1”

I am proud to announce my collaboration with Buckingham Interiors + Design and the unveiling of my new show, ENCIRCLE which will debut at this year’s DESIGN HARVEST.

Saturday & Sunday, September 28th & 29th 2013, from 11am-8pm on Grand Ave between Damen and Wood Street

ENCIRCLE features 12 new paintings ranging from 24×30 to 80×65. Julia Edelmann’s new 1300 square foot showroom is a blank canvas with white brick walls- the perfect venue for my new work which is playful and more spontaneous than my last show.  ADVERSITY, my last solo exhibition at the Zhou B Art Center was this past Spring and featured a classical subject matter with dark undertones.  The new series is very airy and architectural and it is representative of the now in my life.

My new collection is the perfect compliment to Julia’s “Modernique” aesthetic, an integration of antiques and artifacts with modern design. She believes that blending these various objects of different worlds becomes the “glue” which binds her signature style and suits her unique aesthetic. Success can often come from the most unexpected of pairings as demonstrated in her new showroom.

My new work is a breath of fresh air and takes cues from my ever evolving and beloved circle motif. I experiment with the simple shape of the circle and allows the process to build into something unexpected and open. The collection has allowed me to examine myself and present a certain honesty in my work. It is a pure reflection of where I am in the present moment.

dh_logoAbout Design Harvest

West Town Chamber of Commerce is proud to present Design Harvest, a unique annual street festival for Chicago. This one of a kind fest features Chicago’s best local furniture and home accessory makers, vintage and antique collectors, and local retailers of home design.  Between perusing a curated exhibit of design vendors, fest-goers can partake in art making activities, paint a pumpkin and raise money for a local elementary school, take a family hay ride, or enjoy a cold beer and delicious food. Sponsor Christy Webber Landscapes Farm & Garden Center will be providing the hay rides from Design Harvest to their Farm & Garden Center and back between 11am and 5pm. The Farm & Garden Center will feature additional family activities including a hay maze, face painting, scare crow making, petting zoo (between 12-4pm), and more.

Helping set the mood is the live musical entertainment area, programmed by Chicago’s legendary live music venue, The Hideout. Historically we also feature a big square dance in the street! Beer sponsor Blue Moon will feature their Harvest Pumpkin Ale along with Crispin Cider and Coors Light.

A rain or shine event, design vendors are housed under very large tents which also shelters patrons. Patio heaters warm our lounge areas so once the sun sets imbibers can grab a seat on a hay bale, get cozy and stay a while! The 2013 event may also feature an after party sponsored by our media partner Chicago Magazine and Chicago Home and Garden.

Hope you can make it!  -Linc Thelen
